I’m always curious to try out a new makeup brand particularly when it comes from one of the most renowned makeup artists but largely the prices of Westman Atelier kept me away at first. Then, I kept hearing about a few of them over and over again so I decided to try a few.
Once I tried a few of the products, I found myself wanting to try everything. I was blown away by the clean formulas and absolutely loved the glow-y, radiant and rather natural looking “me but better” effects the products had on my makeup routine.
I’ve updated this guide with their latest product drops that I have tried.
One thing to note that I appreciate? The brand hasn’t increased pricing much at all since they launched. They remain premium of course and the products are expensive, but I’m happy to see them continuing with the same prices from launch despite the success. They continue to launch products in a slow, meaningful way which has been nice to see.
Westman Atelier Review
Gucci Westman is the makeup artist behind some of Hollywood A-listers like Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow and she finally launched her own line of clean cosmetics in 2018.
The line combines botanical-powered formulations with biomimicry technology and is designed to cater to those looking to enhance their complexion while elevating their routine. The line comes in beautifully designed, very unique and luxurious packaging with thoughtful details like clicking lids and magnetic tops and are all designed to be gorgeous enough to leave out on your vanity.
But it’s the formulas that really are worth it. What I love personally about the line is that the products all really work to make your skin look more radiant.
I have, at this point, largely tried the entire line of Westman Atelier and today am sharing my thoughts on each of those products. Also I am wearing a full face of the products featured here in these photos so you can really get a sense of how they perform.
The line is free of silicones, uses no parabens, no PEGs, no talc, no phthalates, no synthetic fragrances and is vegan and cruelty free. I appreciate that the brand is completely transparent about their formulations which meet the European Union’s rigorous standards for clean beauty.
Vital Stick Foundation, $68
It took me several tries at applying this stick foundation to really fall in love with it. (I finally settled on applying it with Hourglass Foundation brush for the best finish). It really melts beautifully into your skin so your skin will look healthier and more glowy upon application. It’s got a really creamy texture so you can use it as both a foundation or a concealer. I actually really like to combine it with a BB Cream and use the stick for where I need additional coverage (particularly of redness).
It’s made with active ingredients to soothe (phytosphingosine), moisturize (vegetable-derived squalane, camellia-seed oil, coconut oil) and protect (antioxidant plant compounds like Berryflux Vita) skin.
It’s available in 20 shades for most skin tones and I wear shade Atelier 0.
I now understand why I kept hearing about great this product is – it’s your skin but better. But I would stay away if you have really dry skin.
Vital Skincare Concealer, $48
I’m guessing given how well the brand does base products that this launch was a highly requested one. After it was released I had someone DM me to beg me to try it because they had bought it and loved it so much and figured I would as well.
I finally got my hands on it and really like it. It’s a well performing creamy concealer that melts into the skin and provides good coverage without feeling cakey. Skin feels like it can breathe but it looks brighter and skin tone is evened out.
I love that there is no added fragrance, it’s non-comedogenic and they had it Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist tested.
There are at present 16 shades available and I wear the lightest one at shade L1.
Baby Cheeks Blush, $48
Hands down, my favorite Westman Atelier product. I’ve tried a lot of cream blushes before and never found one I loved as much as thisone. But this Baby Cheeks Blush – this blush is magic.
I first bought the blush stick in Petal and then bought Chouchette and absolutely love both shades. The blush is a gorgeous, multipurpose cream color for cheeks, lips, and even eyes and it gives the most flattering flush of color. It’s ultra-buildable but a little goes a long way. I love the matte powdery finish on it so much- the perfect flush.
I apply it with my fingers most often but you could use a brush or sponge to blend it out further.
I always get asked about what blush I am wearing when I have this on! If you want to try one product by the brand to see how you feel – this should be it.
There’s a lot of new shades given the runaway success of this blush and a few are now available in Petite sizes at a more palatable price point.
The Powder Duo, $75
I nabbed this launch as soon as it was released and a part of the most recent Sephora sale because I couldn’t wait to try it. It’s a powder version of two of my favorite products – Baby Cheeks Blush and the Face Trace Contour Stick (see below).
You can use the contour to lift cheekbones and the blush for a joyful pop of color. The micro-milled formula packs vibrant pigments and plant-derived squalane into a whisper-light powder with a uniquely supple finish.
The powders are super blendable and add just the right amount of color and dimension.
Face Trace Contour Stick, $48
Behold – a contour stick that won’t leave you looking like you don’t actually know how to contour. This makes giving yourself a more defined face shape so easy. This creamy contour stick subtly sculpts and defines the face and blends out beautifully thanks to the formula made with moisturizing organic jojoba oil and mattifying China clay. Unlike other contouring products I have tried, this one doesn’t leave rough lines on your face or give any sort of ash-y finish.
I absolutely love this handy stick and reach for it daily! It comes in three shades now and I use shade Biscuit. Absolutely one of my favorite products from the brand and I hope they’ll extend the shade range soon.
I love it so much I always have to travel with the mini, too. I find it makes a huge difference in photos.
Liquid Super Loaded Drops, $58
I love these drops and I think they are so underrated. The brand calls this a “supercharged lightweight complexion enhancer” but I just love the instant, ethereal glow that a few drops give to your cheeks and other high points of your face.
It comes in three shades and I have the shade Peau de Rosé which I love on fair skin. Truly one of the best liquid highlighters out there in my opinion.
Lip Suede, $85
Four shades in one cute compact! The brand’s Instagram convinced me to buy this Lip Suede and I have to say – it’s super unique. The shades are highly pigmented but also nourishing. Inside the original Lip Suede compact is: Bright tomato, Brick red, Dusty rose (my personal favorite!), and Deep fuchsia. The shades are made with cold-pressed antioxidant cherry oil, collagen-boosting peptides, and a super cushy vegetable-derived base to nourish lips and leave lasting color.
I do recommend you also purchase the brand’s Lip Brush to go hand in hand in applying this as it’s not possible to apply the colors as seamlessly or precisely with your fingers (although you definitely could for a more lived-in lip color).
It’s pretty pigmented, intense colors though so if you’re not big on high-impact lips- skip this product. It’s also not the most practical as you can’t really throw it in your purse and reapply so I don’t find myself reaching for it that often.
And if you prefer nude shades – there’s also the Lip Suede Les Nudes option.
Lip Suede Matte Lipstick, $50
Sadly this was a miss of a product for me as I tend to have lips that run on the drier side. At $50 for a tube I needed to love this product and I just didn’t in the two shades I tried – Je Reve and Rose.
Squeaky Clean Lip Balm, $38
I can’t believe how much I love this lip product. I bought one and then wore it so much that I bought two more shades pretty immediately. It’s super plush, super velvety and really hydrating. It makes lips look so gorgeous and the tints are just beautiful.
They’re made with naturally derived pigments and a unique gel-oil system to give you the perfect shine with zero stickiness. Organic jojoba, almond, and argan oils work to hydrate and soften lips, shea butter soothes and nourishes, while plant based seed oil offers a pillowy sensation.
I first bought Chou Chou which is a great punchy pink to pair with summer-y skin, then got Nana (my current favorite) and then also bought Garçonne which is such a beautiful just-bitten berry shade.
See my Squeaky Clean Lip Balm Try On.
Lip Shape Lip Liner, $34
I’m a big fan of lip liners so I was so excited when the brand launched their own. I immediately ordered Petal given how much I love the shade of the blush and it’s been on repeat since arriving.
The liner was inspired by Gucci’s signature technique. You can use these liners to trace with no tugging along your natural lip shape for an effortlessly enhanced look. I love the precise color payoff that it delivers and found it really stays put. Lips appear fuller and lip balms and lipsticks stay put.
Highly recommend you watch Gucci’s video showing them applied if you’re not yet convinced!
Available in eight shades.
Eye Want You Mascara, $45
Previously the brand had two mascaras, but it looks like they’ve phased their old formula out. What I like about this mascara is how buildable it is. It’s easy to apply and lashes look natural but magnified. It was designed to lengthen, define and volumize using the safest ingredients for the sensitive eye area.
This mascara uses a creamy, plant-based wax blend and Shea Butter to deliver a volumizing and nourishing payoff without clumping, flaking or transferring.
This one is available in both black and brown.
Eye Pods Eye Shadow, $88
These eyeshadows are a velvety, cream-powder-that give a really lovely, natural finish without loads of work but I will say they take some getting used to applying and as such I don’t reach for them that often.
They come in a darling chocolate-box set of three pots and I love that they snap together magnetically to create a chic, travel-friendly palette. Pro tip: you can use the darkest shade in either trio as a smudgy liner, too. Shown here are the shades in the Les Jours trio which features Chocolat, a rich brown; Tabac, a warm bronze and Neige, an iridescent ivory.
I apply them using an eye shadow brush but you could also dab a shade on with your fingers.
I hope they come out with some more traditional shadow quads or solos in the future.
Lit Up Highlight Stick, $48
This barely there stick highlighter leaves a refreshed, dewy glow that’s so pretty on skin. The shade Lit has a unique, iridescent undertone that brightens skin for a lit-from-within glow. You can use it hand in hand with the Face Trace Contour Stick to accentuate cheekbones. There are five shades and I own a few with Nectar being my most reached for.
If you don’t love traditional highlighters – definitely try this one out.
Vital Skincare Complexion Drops, $68
If you’re a fan of skin tints, you’ll like these drops that are meant to boost your complexion to improve the appearance of your skin. Packed with skincare ingredients this formula is very cushion-y and blends out easily.
I actually think it combines well with the Vital Foundation Stick, too if you desire a bit more coverage in certain areas. After application, skin appears firmer, more hydrated and brighter.
Available in 20 shades. I wear the lightest atelier N.
Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer, $75
This is such a gorgeous bronzer. It really does apply like butter despite its powder appearance. This bronzer is a clean, velvety matte bronzer that leaves skin looking healthy, natural, and authentically bronzed. I was so impressed with how it applied and really love how it warmed up my skin. And even better? There’s absolutely no shimmer.
It only comes in three shades at the moment – I wear Coup de Soleil.
My big con with this? The packaging is so, so heavy so I can’t travel with it.
Eye Love You Eye Liner, $34
This kôhl formula effortlessly glides intense pigment without dragging. I like the subtle smokiness of it and am grateful for the Jojoba and Shea butter that ensure it applies smoothly. I could take it or leave it as a liner though. I prefer those in my holy grails.
Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter, $75
This tinted highlighter gives mega wattage (don’t use a heavy hand with it!) It’s infused with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid so you get a hydrated glow and I personally love to layer it over the Lit Up stick. Pro tip? You can use it on your cheeks but also your eyes.
Shown here is the shade Peau De Rose but I also just purchased Peau De Peche. There’s also a few new shades in the last few years. I use a dense makeup brush to apply this – the Merit Blending Brush being my preferred one.
Pro tip: a little goes a long way!
Skin Activator, $150
I’m not going to lie, the price point of the brand’s first skincare product had me blinking quickly. So it wasn’t until it went on sale that I purchased it. I failed to use it until an employee at Credo Beauty told me she and the staff were all obsessed. Then, once I used it I think I remarked “wow” with how good my skin looked following applying my makeup. It’s some sort of wizardy I’m sure but I’ve never really used a product like this before.
It’s a serum so you apply it as part of your skincare routine. For me that means post moisturizer as I like to think of it almost as a primer. Then I let it dry and begin my makeup routine beginning with my favorite primer. The formula has 12 actives including hyaluronic acid, peptides and niacinamide to visibly soften fine lines, boost firmness, and hydrate. It should improve skin’s tone and texture over time.
At $150 this product doesn’t come cheaply but it is in fact really special. And thankfully you really only need 1-2 pumps per use!
Eye Activator Serum, $120
The success of the Skin Activator led the brand to introduce a targeted serum for the sensitive area around the eyes. As I age I am always looking for products that will deliver to smooth fine lines, brighten dark circles and reduce puffiness. What I love about this serum is the near immediate firming affect it has which means concealer goes on really well.
I’m going to keep testing it to see how it fairs with regular use.
If you’re keen to try it and the concealer, I spotted a good duo on their site that will save you a bit of money!
. . .
I also highly recommend checking out the brand’s Instagram – Gucci has some amazing videos that teach you how to seamlessly and effortlessly use the products and I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks for application from watching them! Their brand blog Gucci’s Guide is also worth visiting.
See my Westman Atelier Demo Video.
Next on my list? I can’t wait to try the Sun Tone Drops as I’ve heard great things but they literally keep selling out! Have any of you tried them? I’d love to hear your review.
Don’t miss browsing the brand’s Westman Atelier Gift Sets, too while shopping on their site.

Can you give more details on the foundation? How you apply it step by step? or link to their video that demonstrates it?
How did you pick the correct colour for your skin with the foundation?
Hi Sabrina! Here you go: https://www.westman-atelier.com/blogs/guccis-guide/vital-skin-foundation-faq-application-tricks-shade-match#:~:text=We%20recommend%20using%202%20Vital,need%20to%20even%20skin%20tone. As I have a lot of pink in my skin I always choose a foundation with pink or neutral undertones to counteract the redness/pinkness which is how I landed on my shade! I’m going to do an IGTV later today to show how I apply it so tune in for that once it is posted!
This is so great! I have been wanting to try her products for a while and this has convinced me to go for it. How do you find it wears throughout the day? Does it need a lot of touching up?
Really nicely! I don’t ever need to touch up!
I’ve been on the fence about purchasing the baby cheeks, mainly because I have tried so many cream blushes and have yet to find one that doesn’t need to be reapplied throughout the in humid weather. (I live in Florida) I’m more tempted now after your review!
Hope you love it!!
Hi,
Thank you for this extensive review. How the tinted highlighter is different from Rms Lost angel? They look pretty similar in color. Is the Rms could be considered as a dupe? Thank you ?
It’s a highlight and not a blush so definitely a very different product! It’s also a cream vs a powder!
